Mr. Earl O. Wright of Rockwood passed away in Florida on February 11, 2008 following a struggle with cancer. He was born in 1929 to Ona & Earl Wright, and was the grandson of Ella & Asa Wright and W.C. & Tennessee Roberts of Rockwood. He completed his education in Steubenville, OH, where his parents moved because of railroad employment. Upon graduation, Earl entered the U.S. Army. He completed his hitch, but was recalled for service in Korea.

Upon discharge, he completed an accounting degree, married, and returned to Rockwood. He joined the firm of J.T. Rymer in 1960, earned a CPA degree, and merged his firm with Parsons & Moore CPA’s of Kingston. Earl operated Parsons & Wright, CPA, until his retirement in 2002.

Earl served as deacon and elder of both First Presbyterian & First Christian Churches, was a past-President of TN Public Accountants, past-President of Kiwanis, and financial advisor to several non-profit organizations. He was a Mason and a lifetime Shriner.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat R. Wright, a retired teacher of Roane County Schools. They are the parents of Zan Wyatt of Knoxville, Gregory Wright of Bay Minette, AL, Kenneth Wright of Hernandos, MS, and Andrew Wright of Signal Mountain. Earl also leaves twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A memorial celebration of Earl’s life will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Rockwood or Tidwell Hospice of Port Charlotte, FL.

Just learned of Earl's passing.  When we started our business, Dagger Canoe, in Roane County in 1988, Earl was the most open and helpful person we found in the county.  We used him and his firm until we sold the company, and Earl was a great mentor and friend.
