Mr. Luther B. “L.B.” Townley, age 70, of Kingston, TN passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in the Rockwood Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 4, 1938 in Bland, VA. Mr. Townley was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service, having served in the medical field with tours of duty in Vietnam and Ethiopia. During his military career, he was decorated on several occasions, including earning the Purple Heart Medal. L.B. was a retired Health Administrator with Morgan County Regional Corrections Complex. L.B. was also an ordained bishop and evangelist in the Church of God. He was a member of Harriman Church of God, where he attended with his family, for over 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Edna Townley and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 25, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Ottis Ball and Chaplain Steve Lambert officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday, April 25 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roane County Gideons; P.O.
