Sharon Kay Spurling, of Rockwood, passed away February 23, 2008.  A member of First Baptist Church of Rockwood, she graduated from Tennessee Tech University, Cookeville with a degree in Structural Engineering.  She did graduate work at MTSU, Murfreesboro; worked at Huntsville, Alabama and Fort Worth, Texas in research on materials for space shuttles and aircraft.  While working in Huntsville, she was invited to join Mensa;  but after her illness in 1992 she did not pursue membership.  She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Mason & Adra Hatfield of the Pine Orchard Community in Morgan County;  paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. J.S. Spurling of Rockwood;  several aunts & uncles.

Survivors include:

Parents                  Jack & Eula Spurling of Rockwood
Special cousin     Edward Hatfield, with whom she shared their birthday of September 7th
Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & Friends

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Orchard Baptist Church Building Fund, 206 Pine Orchard Road, Oakdale, TN 37829 or to the First Baptist Church, Rockwood Music Ministry, 309 N. Chamberlain Ave., Rockwood, TN 37854.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 25, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Evans Mortuary. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm in the chapel with Rev. Rick Roberts officiating.  Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
