Mrs. Essie Black-Patenaude, age 86, formerly one of the first residents of Rockwood Village Apartments for 33 years passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, TN.  She was a member of the Rockwood Church of Christ.  She was retired from McDonald-Douglas Aircraft, Long Beach, CA.  She enjoyed working with her flowers and spending time with her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by husband, Johnny B. Black, parents; William and Bertha Little Givens, brothers; Beecher, Sid, Jess, Frank, Everett and Howard Givens, sisters, Dora and Dorothy Givens, Alice Davis, Grace McCoy, Reba Pass, Clara-Tudy Morrison and twin sister Bessie Duke.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 15, 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Evans Mortuary. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Bro. Brad Tate officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, April 15 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
