Mr. Ricky Wendell Oakes, age 47, of Adairsville, GA, formerly of Rockwood, TN passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 in Cartersville, GA. He was born July 18, 1960 in Rockwood, TN. Mr. Oakes was employed as a truck driver for MarChem Southeast in Adairsville, GA & was a member of Mt. Vernal Baptist Church in Rockwood. He loved the outdoors and to make people laugh, used to race motorcycles with Motorcross and was a kind, gentle & very loving person. Preceded in death by grandmother, Hazel Oakes; grandparents, Frank & Estelle Miles.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. EDT at Evans Mortuary. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. EDT in the chapel of Evans Mortuary with Pastor Randy Jackson officiating. Graveside service & interment will follow in the Moulder-Price Cemetery in Cumberland County, TN.

Linda, I know that you loved Ricky so much. A.V. said that you two seemed like the perfect couple and I agree. Put your faith in God and time will heal your broken heart. There will come a time when you think of him there will be laughter instead of tears. He will always be with you. Be thankful that he died knowing that he had a wife who loved him more than anything in this world. Some people live forever and never experience that.
