Mrs. Alethea Mary McClain, age 83, of Harriman, Tennessee passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 in the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, with her family by her side. She was born December 3, 1924 in Jennings, Kansas to Austin Henry Wallack and Edna Mary Giddings. She was a graduate of Topeka High School and Topeka Business College. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Rahn’s Custom Shirts in the 1950’s and later was Head Medical Secretary for the Department of Cardiology, Travis Hospital at Travis AFB, California for 22 years. In addition she was an award winning amateur vocalist, the author of “The Way We Were”, a genealogy of the Wallack and McClain families, and a wood artist specializing in marketry. She was a loving wife and mother and was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather Louis Rahn; her son James Clayton McClain, Jr; sister, Virginia Edna Wallack Reaser; and her brother, Chester Austin Marion Wallack.

Daughter: Gayle Lynne McClain Darugh & husband, David of Clayton, Georgia
Grandsons: Patrick Gainer McClain & wife, Mary Katheryn of Dallas, Texas
James Christopher McClain of Las Vegas, Nevada
Granddaughter: Katherine Nicole McClain of Valley Center, California
Greatgrandchildren: Aidan Patrick McClain, Ryan Elizabeth McClain & Finn Gainer McClain
Also two nieces and four nephews
Cremation arrangements have been made. Interment will be at a later date in Georgia.
