Mrs. Laura Mae Hughes , age 83, a resident of the Pecan Street in New Orleans, Louisiana passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 in the Rockwood Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Hughes was born April 1, 1924 in Louisiana. She was of the Baptist faith and was a Hurricane Katrina survivor who relocated to the Rockwood area following the hurricane. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Hughes, Jr.

Survivors include friends in the Rockwood area.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Chaplain Steve Lambert officiating.  Interment will be held at a later date in the Garden of Memories in Metairie, Louisiana.
