Dr. Thomas R. Cox, Jr., age 85, a resident of S. Chamberlain Avenue, Rockwood, TN passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in the Rockwood Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born February 25, 1923 in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Cox was a physician, pathologist; later becoming an internist and working in emergency rooms in several states. He graduated from Southern Methodist University and received his Doctorate in Medicine from Baylor University. Dr. Cox was a U.S Army Veteran, serving as an enlisted corps man in WWII and as an officer and physician in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed working on computers, chocolate, and talking politics. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas R., Sr. & Olive Cullen Cox; and wife, Martha J. Cox.

                             Haven DeLaCruz of Rockwood, TN
                             Holton DeLaCruz of Rockwood, TN

The family would like to thank the staff of Rockwood Care and Rehabilitation Center and Caris Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Patricia Mendez officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN with full military honors by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday, April 21, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary in Rockwood.
