Mr. John Dallas “J.D.” Hughes, age 87, a resident of Black Creek Road, Rockwood, TN passed away Monday, November 26, 2007 in the Roane Medical Center, Harriman, TN. He was born November 27, 1919 in Chamberlain, TN. Mr. Hughes was a member & Deacon of Whites Creek Baptist Church, Rockwood, TN; a retired furnace operator with Roane Electric Furnace; a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII; and was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander & Cora Belle Crabtree Hughes; son, William Alexander Hughes; son-in-law, George Edmonds; sisters, Monita Hughes, Roxie Hughes Hill, and Maddie McElhaney; and brothers, Claude Hughes and Samuel Hughes.

Wife of 59 years:                              Ella Mae Hughes of Rockwood, TN

Daughters:                                        Mary Edmonds of Rockwood, TN
                                                            Teresa Setser & husband, Wayne of Harriman, TN

Grandchildren:                                 Tara Stout & husband, Jeff of Rockwood, TN
                                                            Aaron Setser of Harriman, TN

Brothers:                                            Edward Hughes of Athens, TN
                                                            James Russell Hughes & wife, Mary C. of Rockwood, TN

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Pastor Roger Britton and Rev. Hascue Carter officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Evans Mortuary.
