Mr. E.L. Smith, Jr., age 80, of Harriman, TN passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at his home. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing and was a self-taught artist and an avid reader. His greatest joy in life was his family and he was happiest when surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Smith, Sr. and Edna Smith; brother, Pete Smith; sisters, JoAnn Tharpe and Jeanette Johnson.

Sherry (Johnny) Hamilton of Rockwood, TN
19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood.

So sorry about E.L.'s passing. He was a good man and so good to all us kids when he lived next to us. I continue to recall how patient he was with us and how he let me sit in his chair in his den and read all his books! He was a good father, husband and friend.
