Patsy Cook Gorghis, age 60, a life-long resident of Rockwood, TN, died December 29, 2009. She was born February 21, 1949 in Rockwood to James “Rube” and Bess Baird Cook. Mrs. Gorghis worked at La-z-Boy in Dayton, attended TOPS in Kingston, traveled around supporting her favorite bluegrass bands, spent countless hours in her arts and crafts room and most of all enjoyed the special times she shared with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rube and Bess; brothers, Carl, James and Jack Cook; and sister, Louise True.
Patsy is survived by her loving husband, John Gorghis; her children and their families: Robin York and family, John and Ashlyn; Judy, Bill, Melissa, Summer and Faith York; and Jason Givens. step-children and their families: Kristina, Kevin and Kristin Lusby; John Evan and Kelli Gorghis and their children, Baylee and Jacob Clayton and Rebecah Miller; brother, Bud Cook; sisters and their spouses, Betty and Jesse Hill, Dinia and Lloyd Burnette and Brenda and Jerry Willard; loving aunt, Jessie Baird; mothers-in-law, Faye Maynard, Elizabeth Givens and Mildred Caddell; and sister-in-law and friend, Patty York. There were so many other loving relatives and friends.
The receiving of friends will be Saturday, January 2, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. The funeral service will be conducted following the visitation with Rev. Mike Winters officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held Sunday, January 3 at 2:00 P.M. in the Glen Alice Cemetery, Rockwood.
