Mr. Calvin DeVaney, age 84, a resident of Arsenault Crossing, Kingston, TN passed away Tuesday November 3, 2009 at the Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. He was born November 9, 1924 in Harriman, TN to William Stacey & Verna Gertrude Hacker DeVaney. Mr. DeVaney was a retired draftsman engineer with Union Carbide and Martin Marietta. He attended the Liberty Baptist Church in Kingston, TN and was a member of the “Handyburger Round Table” in Kingston. Mr. DeVaney was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War; and was a member of The American Legion, Post #50, Rockwood, TN and a Lifetime Charter Member of the National WWII Memorial. He was also an avid walker in the park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian DeVaney; son, Dusty DeVaney; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9, 2009 at 12:00 noon from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Pastor Randy Griffis officiating. Graveside services and entombment will follow in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday, November 9, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Evans Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital; 502 St. Jude Place; Memphis, TN 38105.
